PTA and Family Groups
Our parent/family involvement groups meet regularly to support Canyon and its students in a number of ways!
The Canyon PTA meets throughout the school year and supports a number of programs, activities, and events on campus. We need your support! All Canyon parents and families are invited to attend meetings to learn more about school programs, fundraisers to support the school, and ways to get involved. Click HERE to access the Canyon PTA website. Canyon's PTA General Meetings are from 7:00 - 8:30 pm. The first meeting will take place Tuesday September 12th, 2023 starting at 7:00 PM at Canyon in the Library. (see Flyer) Following meeting dates to be announced soon!
African American Alliance Network (AAAN)
The Middle School African American Alliance Network (“AAAN”) is a group of parents that works with school administrators, teachers and students to support knowledge, understanding and appreciation of African American heritage and culture, and to build a community that helps to enrich the experiences of the African American student body at Canyon. Any adult in the Canyon community is welcome to participate in this group, and we particularly encourage parents/caregivers of students of African American heritage to join our group. Meetings will be held in October, December, February, and April on selected Wednesdays starting at 6:30 pm (See Flyer)
Canyon Padres Unidos
This group meets every other month and discussions are held in both English and Spanish. All families and caregivers are welcome to join to get informed on school events, participate in their students' education, connect with staff, and build community with others! (See Flyer)
Asian American and Pacific Islander Family Group (AAPI)
This group meets every other month with the goal of creating space for connections and partnership in celebration of AAPI heritage and community. All are welcome to join! We hope to see you there. Meetings take place on selected Tuesday evenings in October, December, February, and April. (See Flyer).
LGBTQ+ Family Group
Our Canyon LGBTQ+ Family Group (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and more) was formed with the goals of building community, connection, and increasing our network of support! Our meetings will take place four times a year starting at 6:30 pm (See Flyer). We hope you can join us!
English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)
English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)
Canyon Middle School maintains a English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) to advise on programs and services for emerging multilingual students. The ELAC committee meets at least four times annually to gather input and share information with families of our English Learners. We hope you can join us!
Music Parents Society
Music Parents Society
This group helps to support vocal and instrumental music in CVUSD. Meetings are held at 7pm in the CVHS Band Room and are usually held on the second Wednesday. For more information about the MPS, you can visit their website HERE.
Learn more about how to help support our Canyon athletics program! First meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 26 at 5:30 pm in room B-4.
