Academic Recognition

RENAISSANCE – Renaissance is recognition program designed to honor students who SOAR at Canyon! Qualification is based on three areas: Academics, Attendance, and Behavior. Grades are the first factor, but students may be disqualified for attendance or behavior problems.

Gold Level – 3.5 to 4.0 Quarter GPA

Silver Level – 3.0 to 3.49 Quarter GPA

In addition, students who earn Renaissance may not have any of the following:

Behavioral Referrals
“F” Grade or “U” Citizenship mark
More than 3 Unexcused Tardies
Unexcused Absences

Students who qualify for Renaissance are eligible for rewards. Students receive a sticker for their ID card during lunch shortly after report cards are mailed. Announcements are made on the Student Broadcast and posted on the Student Bulletin with instructions for pickup locations. Students must bring their valid ID card in order to pickup a Renaissance sticker.

HONOR SOCIETY -- Students who achieve a 3.4 to 4.0 GPA per semester will be awarded the following:

1st semester – certificate, bumper sticker
2nd semester - certificate

GOLDEN APPLE AWARD - 4.0 cumulative GPA. Student must attend Canyon Middle School all 6 semesters.
